.i read there is a more powerful version called a cold laser you need a doctor for....anyone try a cold laser treatment for ENS.
I think chiros use them....they are fairly new.

That's pretty interesting.

Yes chiropractors use it.

It's called Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), it also has a less powerful version with a LED diode at the end for less penetrating effect (infact there is an Israeli device by Bio-light marketed in the US to treat allergic rhinitis), it's not new technology, it's been around for like 70-80 years. Quite popular in Europe - especially - Switzerland and Germany.
I tried a concentrated session of 3 times a week for 3 weeks in 2000. Made my dryness worse. I worked in the nose directly onto the turbinate stubs. Perhaps should not have done that but a more systematic whole body approach which is used simply to induce relaxation would have been more effective.
I wrote about it on this forum ions ago.
Many scientific experiments have been done with this in animals. It does cause - if you find the right wave length and frequency levels some cellular improvement and can enhance blood flow to an injured area. Is succesful in enhancing recovery from injuries. Will not make a turbinate bone grow. If found a proper way how to use effectively for ENS might improve mucosal functions. Probably on a temporary basis.
Is used a lot by top vets to treat race horses injuries and pets of those who can afford it. And by some physiotherapists to treat athleats with sport injuries.
Lengthy treament, usually costly and probably will not be covered by insurance (worth a try though), especially if you are ENS type.
Caution - need expert only. Lots of con artist with machines trying to make a buck. The wrong frequency can get you the opposite of what yuo want, though don't think can cause permanent damage. Eyes should be properly protected.

thanks TE, your resoucefulness as usual is boundless....
do you remember what laser you used...i know there are differnt ones?

An LLLT laser is an LLLT laser. It doesn't matter what make it is. What matters mainly are the frequencies of the light that's used.
Every kind of light has a defferent frequency. Research with LLLT has identified what wave length is good for what problem. If you get the frequency/wave length wrong you will not get a positive result.
Basically laser therpay is part of a larger field in medicine known as phototherapy.
Natural sunlight has all the spectrum of possible wave lenghts of light. So by simply exposing yourself to natural sun light you are already receiving amongst other wave lengths, the proper ones for the problem you want to treat. So to begin with - the sun itself is a recuperating and healing tool. This is one of the reasons why 50-60 years ago people after illnesses and operations were used to be sent to recuperate in mountain resorts where amongst other forms of therapy they used to give them sun baths.
Modern medicine abandoned it because of the just scare of UV rays which are dangerous in prolonged exposure. However - it's important toremember that without light there is no life and this is true also about regeneration processes. This is why I keep on posting to people here not to remain confined from the sun but to get natural sun light exposure every day of at least 15-30 minutes., preferably in the early morning when there is little UV.
Now, the LLLT was developed by scientists who were aware of the healing properties of light and decided to try to check what happens when the bomabrd a whole person, or an injured area with only one certain wave-length and obviously the LLLT does not have the problem of emitting UV. And so they found that every frequency treats a different problem. One enhances blood flow, one an immune reaction, the third relaxex the brain and so forth.
There are different therapeutic lasers built and therapists use them differently. It's a bit of an art form and you need someone with tons of experience and there aren't many. However there a quite a few in the US, and I'm sure they have website.
There are different machines that emit the wavelenghts. There are individual lasers and there are 2-3 or 4 laser heads, each witha different frequency, attached together.
In recent years there are heads built that are designed to coverhuge body areas with many different wave length - a kind of holistic LLLT approach. This "heads" are like giant lamps that have dozens or even hundred of LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) built into it. a LED bulb is not a laser but like a laser can be set to emit a single frequency. It doesn't penetrate as deep, but can be used longer each session and has a good commulative effect. What's more it can be combined with many otheres to create a therapeutical surface. If yuo search the web for manufacturers of LLLTs - I'm sure you'll find pictures.
Jdog,
Trust me: If you are looking to use this to reduce pain, infflamation etc' - that's one thing and may help. If you are looking to regenerate resected turbinates with it - forget it. You cannot grow organs with it! If they could - the whole world would have known of it. I've been there. I've spoken to scientists that work with it including for nasal problems - like allrgic rhinitis. If you check the scientific publications about it you'll find many Israelis there...
It's great for wound healing, skin problems, etc's - when one tissue needs to grow faster and better into the other - like to close a wound or an ulcer. But - it will not regenerate an entire structure or even a portion of it - which is what is needed in ENS.

Im looking for both pain managment and to improve the tissue thats already there...thanks appreaciate your advice.
Do you have any expierece with other devices like ultrasound etc.?

no.
