Frontal Sinusitis Cured with Stem Cells and Biomaterial This is very interesting and impressive since it directly relates to Sinus sufferers and ENS. Apparently there is success in regenerating nasal bone tissue for treating sinus problems.

IF we can get them to use the acell stuff they probably can use some of that procedure for ref.
good find!
actually, to me their procedure sounds much better and more suitable to our problem than A-Cell.

I would think acell would get FDA approval first. Either way, I would prefer not to have a lipo treatment but what ever it takes!

Actually I wonder if DR. Housers implant methods mixed with their biomaterial and something already approved like SIS, Acell (unless of course fat stem cells get approved in the US) would work in the states.
I'll assume the bio material would be fda acceptable as well as Housers methods obviously, we just need a product to go into the material.
excuse the many post i had insomnia tonight 8)

Maybe a combination of the two would work. If the first process has proven to grow bone maybe the ACell could be used to grow the sensitive mucosa covering complete with nerve receptors.

The Whole Story The Regea Institute for Regenerative Medicine, which operates under the University of Tampere, administered the first clinical stem cell therapy to two patients in cooperation with the Tampere University Hospital. The therapy was a success.
The patients suffered from severe, prolonged frontal sinusitis. An implant combining stem cells and biomaterial was inserted into the damaged bone. Since the therapy, the patients have been well and no longer suffer from frontal sinusitis.
Stem cell therapy was administered to patients with prolonged and severely symptomatic frontal sinusitis that destroyed bone tissue in the forehead. Other treatments such as traditional implants or fat tissue transplants failed to relieve infection.
The new therapy is a combination of stem cells extracted from the patients' own fat tissue and commercial biomaterials. Stem cells in the fat tissue have an ability to differentiate into bone cells. After the stem cells extracted from the patient had been cultivated in the laboratory for about a week, they were combined with a biomaterial that disintegrates in the body. The combination was then inserted into the site of the bone damage in the patient's forehead. This was in late 2006.
Both patients have been monitored regularly and they have reported good health and no symptoms of frontal sinusitis. An X-ray examination confirmed their recovery and the successful onset of ossification in the frontal sinus.
The Regea Institute for Regenerative Medicine is one of the world-leading research institutes in the field. Owing to the extensive application opportunities for tissue technology and stem cell therapy, Tekes has substantially funded Regea's research.

What needs to be done is that someone should persuade them that it is worth their while to try to simulate resected inferior turbinates with their technique and materials.
Dr Houser's article on "Surgical Therapy for Empty Nose Syndrome" is supposed to be published in "Archives of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery" any day now, and in it he explains his technique in detail, explains ENS elaborately and reveals his statistics so far in surgical therapy for ENS.
I'm sure that using this article to get the Finnish researchers interested in ENS will help a lot, after all they have shown interest in the nose before.
We need someone to take upon him/her self to try to get them interested in implementing their implants on ENS using Dr Houser's findings and conclusions about ENS.

great point te!
between housers paper and their work we know have a good starting point to justify a procedure based on a medical body of work not just guess work.

great find guys,i'm sure i'm like the reest when i say wish it was tomorrow this could happen but it's a start

Recv'd a message from the doctor that performed this procedure. She seems to think it is feasible to treat ENS with this method in the future. She is in Finland, Maybe some of our European members can see what she can do for them.
empty nose sndr is very rare here in Finland, therefore we have not
thought about it here.
However, as we gain more experience on other applications, this might
also be an option.

NICE....anyone on the french forum interested in visiting them?
