GERD
Hi doctor, I am three months post op from having septoplasty and turbinate tip resection (not submucosal, which I now know is bad). I have three main symptoms since the surgery: nasal dryness, breathing irregularities, but worst of all for me - terrible GERD symptoms. It's to the point where I can barely eat anything at all that I don't have severe, debilitating heartburn (like my chest will explode) in addition to bloating of the stomach. I never had this before the surgery. Naturally my ENT says it has nothing to do with what he did. 1. I have seen on this web site that GERD could be a symptom of ENS. Could you briefly explain why GERD arises from ENS? 2. Can the GERD be treated separately from the ENS even if ENS is the cause? I have had mixed results with ant-acid medications. I intend to go to a good gastro doctor, but seeing how he probably won't know about ENS, I was wondering if you recommend any remedies specifically for ENS-induced GERD?

sleep apnea patients often have GERD and it is postulated that the negative pressure with inspiration sucks gastric secretions up ENS, with breathing dysfunction, might cause a similar event Other than nasal moisturization, etc. I can not think of any distinct remedy specific to ENS
