How long for nerves to rejuvenate after turbunate reduction
Dr. Houser, It has been 3 and 1/2 months now since my turbunate reduction. The burning and dryness is sooo bad that my new ENT has referred me to a neurologist to help with the nerve pain. How long can it take for the turbunates to heal? My surgery was done by cyrocauterization and bilateral submucous resection. Lisa

You had alot of work done it seems. In general, overt healing occurs within 6 weeks. The nerve regeneration can take a long time. In laryngology we use a year as the time to decide if a nerve will ever begin moving a vocal cord or not. Hence, I use a year in the nose as my cut off to decide if nerve related issues will resolve or not. Having seen a sufferer's symptoms resolve at 10 or 11 months post op makes me feel this time line is appropriate.
