Implants and nose sprays Dr. Houser,
Is it safe to use a steriod nasal spray with an implant?

yes it is, the implant becomes your tissue
I do not expect it would do any harm the first few weeks, but could be witheld if desired

Dr. Houser,
Thank you for your reply. This past week I have been really stuffled up to the point that I cannot breathe from either side of my nose. I was beginning to think maybe I had something else like vasomotor rhinitis but now I think I may have caused my own problem. And I'm embarrassed to even tell you this but you're probably wondering why I am asking about steriod nasal sprays. Anyways, my office building is being re-modeled. I had to move desks. There is dust everywhere. Stuff is falling from the ceilings, carpet is being pulled up. Walls are being pulled down and put back up again. Painting is going on. It's an allergy sufferers worst nightmare. Even my chest has been tight and I've had to use my rescue inhaler in addition to the Advair. Anyways, the Claritin-D wasn't working so I bought a bottle of Afrin which opened my nose right away. I was using it at work in the morning and I didn't even think about how many days I had used the stuff until this weekend when I didn't have it to use and I got stuffled up again but even worse. I was so stuffled up my head felt like it was going to explode! I feel like such an idiot. I've often heard of rebound and this must be it. I've got some Nasacort that the allergist ordered last fall so I will use that and see if it doesn't solve my problem. I will never use Afrin again! And it was only for 5 or 6 days that I used it.

yes, you may very well have developed rhinitis medicamentosa - you will recover
interestingly Anthony and some others tried to intentionally induce RM with overuse of afrin as a way to counteract ENS but found it did not work
