Infection
I have seen a new ENT and learned that I am raw and infected (surgery 7 weeks ago). He doesn't want me to use vidocin (I had some left over from the surgery and have been using for pain and anxiety), or lunesta (for sleep) because they are drying. I am on my last nerve from 6 weeks of suffering--the first week I was not bad. My digestive system, everything is a mess. I am freezing all the time. There is nothing to be done--I just needed to vent.

Your infection
Kris, Well at least there is a good reason why you've been feeling so horrible. Hopefully, your new ENT has prescribed some antibiotics and you'll be feeling better in 2-3 days. Let us know how you're doing. Try not to worry. You'll feel better soon.

Yes, I'm on 2 antibiotics. One is mupirocin--for MRSA. That scares me. God, I hope I feel better soon. I have no strength left.

same thing happened to my stomach. It was bad before the surgery then 10x worse since. If your having allergies you might want to talk to a naturopath about leaky gut syndrome. Also a GI consult cant help. NSAIDS like motrin and tylernol (in vicoden) can rip the small in-*test*-('")inal lining apart. Also look into SIBO (Small in-*test*-('")inal bacteria overgrowth. as far as pain goes I'm still having problems finding pain managment that works without irratating the gi tract. Im not a big fan of probiotics anymore but you may want to order some VSL#3. its an FDA approved probiotic for gut problems. Also find a pain managment clinic, most major hospitals have them now. They may not fix the problem but they have good pain psycologist that can help work with your PCP. Hope some of this helps. Allergies can be tough. ALso dont forget aobut possible food allergies or celiac's disease.

Jdog, I really had no sinus problems before the surgery--except for occasional (not bad) hay ever. Polps were found a on a CT scan incidental to the reason for the scan (which was tinnitus). From there, I ended up in this mess. I believe I developed the polyps in response to a low-level carbon monoxide exposure over last winter. Carbon monixde would be an irritant to anyone, so I don't think I really had allergies before the surgery. Maybe I do now. I was in a building today, and could not take the residual cigarette smoke, or a smelly candle that was burning. Thanks for the info.

Inhaled or spray antibiotics
Kris, Perhaps inhaled or spray antibiotics might be better as far as side affects

kris- 12-24-2007

Actually, I've had the digestive and freezing problems since the surgery, and I just went on antibiotics a week ago. I think the surgery was hard on my whole body. And, I think, being in trauma, in one part of the body, creates stress on the whole.

persist829- 12-24-2007

I have been having digestive problems also.Think its because of breathing difficulties.Like hyperventliation

kris- 12-24-2007

It very well might be. I am discovering that there seems to be an interplay between breathing and numerous other bodily functions. Sleeping, certainly. I also have problems with eating (can't eat) and eliminating (eliminate everything I eat immediately) and keeping warm. I guess I am not metabolizing, so I am not creating heat. I just found some relief from the dyspnea. I put some little pieces of cotton dampened with organic sesame oil in my nostrils about an hour ago. My lungs feel grateful. Ahhhh...

Are you going to wait or go for some type of implant. Obviously the cotton cures our symptoms. Have you talked to Dr houser about implants. If so does Dr. houser think you might improve?

kris- 12-24-2007

I haven't talked to Dr. Houser about implants. You have to wait a year. Do not try leaving in the cotton balls in, as I did. I aspirated one, and have spent the day doing saline irrigations trying to force it out, and talking to an on-call ENT who is going to meet me across town tonight, at a clinic, to try to get it out--when he gets done at the hospital. What a nightmare this whole thing is.

What a pain in the neck....Your idea was so good too.

kris- 12-24-2007

Well, at least, persist, it should give us hope. I breathed for the first time in seven weeks. It wasn't perfect, but implants would work better, I think. Hope is a nice thing to have on Christmas Eve.

persist829- 12-24-2007

One thing is for sure...with cotton working for you at least you know if worst comes to worst impants will work! Some thing to look forward to.....Have a great chrstmas...

You have a great Christmas, too.
