Monet, Thank you for writing and for your prayers. You sound like a great friend to Tom and he will need a shoulder to lean on right now. When I read Tom's letter, I felt so frustrated because this is still happening. The ENT's are still touching the turbinates. It seems so unneccessary that more people have to suffer like we are. I have been putting it off too long but I am going to write my surgeon a letter about what he has created, and I will include the website too. I understand that ENS doesn't happen in everybody that gets their turbinates resected, but at the very least I should have been informed that this was a risk. I asked him "Are there any risks to the surgery?" and he flat out said -No. I was so sick with sinus infections I didn't have the energy to get a second opinion. He seemed so confident and I trusted him. Lesson learned. Tell Tom to keep his chin up-he is not alone-and I know that together we can get the word out about ENS. When that happens we will some major breakthroughs. Thanks for your support!

hey jennifer! this is a very frustrating situation and i have googled the subject over and over and was reading early this morning about it...i also read that trimming the turbinates seems to be a regular practice in the surgery and doesnt always cause problems...tommy and i work with a lady that also had the surgery and she is doing fine so i am going to ask her if she can find out exactly what was done in her surgery......you know the scary thing is, even tho we know doctors are human, you still always just assume that what they are telling you is a definate truth and you can trust them completely with your life! it is frustrating because it seems by reading everyone's stories that none of the doctor's have said this was a risk???? i dont get that at all? i was on the internet this morning thinking people should be aware of this so i sent an email to oprah as a suggested topic for the show so people could be informed(everyone listens to oprah right? ) i gave the website too....who knows maybe we can get that info out there? well god bless and take care!!!!

That is so amazing! After I wrote to you I was thinking about getting this on Oprah( half kidding to myself) because this is something that can be prevented. Thank you for emailing her site. Who knows? It would be great to get a panel of people on her show with Dr. Houser of course, maybe Dr. Kern? My ENT said he was going to 'trim' my turbs too- turns out 'trim' is very variable. Dr. Houser said 80% of mine are gone. If all the members email Oprahs website (approx 200) within the next few days, maybe they would take notice. It's worth a try and it only takes a minute to do. How about it, members?

Instead of getting a free car, maybe Oprah would fund our reparative/implant surgeries!!!Ha Ha
