trapped dont let that stop you. Especially with your true friends. If they knew what you have been through im sure they will be very supportive and overlook things. I have a wife and there are many things about me now that are unpleasant to live with. She overlooks them much more than I do! I must admit I dont know much about this particular problem, but maybe lubricate and irrigate your nose just before getting out, buy yourself a good aftershave and deoderant and get out there!

007, Ozena is charecterized by a stench from the nose that can be detected the minute the patient enters a room. It is a very serious degenrative disease of the nasal and sinus inner bones. Trapped, True Ozena in western societies today is terribly rare, however I knopw that there are pretty effective therapies for it. If you do have it - I hope you are taking those therapies. True Ozena is not like ENS, there is little chance that even the most incompetent ENT will over look it. The symptoms are very clear and literally "in your face" and a simple culture taken will verify it. I have followed your posts about this for several months now, and I have told you my opinion before. I hope I'm wrong, but it seems to me that you are not really doing anything about it. Previously you told me that doctors disagreed with you that it was Ozena. They may be right ofcourse, as a foul smell can come out of other things in the sinus and mouth cavities too, but if you think they are wrong then keep on going to other ENTs and demand to have a biopsy taken to put an end to all the speculations.

Hi Trapped3 Only Dr.H has confirmed to me early this year that I might have Rhinitis Sicca, a step down from Atrophic Rhinitis aka Ozena. I've even had my dentist confirm there's nothing wrong with my teeth, gum, and salivation. I'm quite aware of my breath due to dry nasal passage, thus drying up my mouth. I've seen people strategically covering their nose, in a resting head on hand, which frankly is obvious. I usually back up a bit and talk louder. I have done everything possible and cost efficient to remedy my situation. 1. sinus nasal rinse, three times a day 2. try not to eat too much sugar food and drinks 3. chew gum alot, in my case because it's dryness, I chew Xylitol, it's more expensive, but it won't decay my teeth. 4. drink lots of water when you're out, people thinks I'm cheap because I order water at restaurants and at the club 5. I have toothbrush and toothpaste at work, so I can brush after lunch. Due to dry mouth and tongue, food becomes a residue on my tongue. 6. Don't rinse your mouth with Scope or any other product with alcohol, it'll just dry out your mouth. Same holds true if you drink alcohol. I know what you're going through, and I know if I don't keep up with my rinse routine, it can possibly progress to Atrophic Rhinitis over time. I use to evade people and social situation, but like 007 said, those who are understanding or at least half understanding, will work around you. hope some of my suggestion helps.
