reconstucting lateral wall of the nose is possible?
Dear doctor Houser? I am a patient of ENS from South America. I have lost both of my turbinates in the left side, and a signyficant part of them in the rigth side of it. But i also have lost my lateral walls (this is worse in one side), it means that my nose is comunicated with the maxilary sinus. This give´s me a fisiological problem, that the side can´t be cleaned. This, i think, is responsable of the infection i have. There could be a damage in the superior meatus too. The question is that if is possible to reconstuct the lateral wall or is there a way of closing it? My ENT told me to mention you this. He has experience in azaenas and tells me that there could be implanted grass, living a quiste there. He doesn´t have the experience you have implanting ENS patiens and recomends me to do it with you or who ever has further experience. What do you think about this? best regards doctor SH. gmg.

an implant can reduce airflow which reduces moisture loss if your mucus is drying out leading to an infection, then an implant may help usually I want to stay away from an active infection with an implant though - risk having an infection to the implant the implant would likely be to the septum opposite a missing IT/lateral wall

fisiological problem in the maxilary sinus.
I hope the implant will help. But, will there be an fisiological problem with the maxilary sinus wich is comunicated with the nose. The mocus gets in there and can´t come out. Can you put grass in there to close it as my ENT here in chile told me to ask you, living there a cyst?? The infections i have i dont now if they appear because of the crust or there is a problem with the superior meatus. Obviously you have to see me first. Will a magnetic resonance show if there is a synus or meatus blocked. I have already done a CT and a nasofibroscopy, and now my ENT asked for a magnetical resonance. Thanks for your concern. gmg

I am not sure what you mean by grass - actual grass? You cannot close off a sinus opening or a post-obstructive sinus infection will set in

I meant grease, sorry}
doctor, a meant grease or fat, because is hard to clean the sinus that is open. I have a realy big opening, almost no lateral wall in one side, and is always giving problems cleaning it. My ENT in my country suggested to putt grease creating a cryst to close the maxilary sinus. Is possible or something like it? best wishes doc.

fat, or any material, cannot close the nasal opening fat could be used to obliterate the sinus from the face - I have never seen someone that I thought needed that. I think a Grossan irrigator would help lean your nose
