Submucosal resection of the ITs? Hello Dr. Houser,
I had submucosal resection of the inferior turbinates, septoplasty, and polyp removal four weeks ago. Since the removal of my splints and crust I have been feeling short of breath. I feel like the turbs are not pressurizing the air properly. It also feels a little cold in the nasal cavities, but that's getting better, however the weather is getting warmer. I briefly had problems with dry throat, that was directly connected to my nasal breathing, but that seems to be getting better as well.
The biggest problem I am having is the shortness of breath and lack of pressure in the nasal cavities. Because of this problem I am feeling anxious and my hands are getting cold for no apparent reason sometimes. Is this the beginning of ENS and is it common to develop ENS from submucosal resection? Do you think the symptoms of shortness of breath and the lack of the sense of pressure will improve?

Thanks for the response doctor, but where should I look to answer my questions regarding submucosal resection?

Look to the top of the screen for the "search" function, click that,
type in submucosal
read through the posts there that will answer a great deal of your questions.
After reading through that, then please ask any additional questions you have.

I've done the search and I found some answers for my questions. However, I was wondering if some of the turbinate can grow back after sub mucous resection?
Also, I have started to have trouble sleeping and I believe that it is directly connected to my turbinate surgery. I have never and I mean never had trouble sleeping before. I believe it is directly connected to the disruption of my normal nasal cycle. The turbs have been reduced to the point that the turbs do not become engorged enough and I wake up trying to roll myself over. I do this over and over again while I try to sleep, because my turbs don't swell enough to block one side so that I can roll over without waking up. My ENT did say that when they do swell up they won’t block my nostril at all so I guess this is it.
