Turbinate injection controversy Dr. Houser-
I saw both experts Dr. Rice and Dr. Grossan with conflicting results. Although Dr. Rice recognized that I have ENS type symtoms he did not think that I have full blown ENS being that I have 50% of my turbinates left after having a somnoplasty. He refused to do any injections because he believed it would make my symtoms worse. However, Dr. Grossan believes that the air flow needs to be redirected and that injections might actually help with this problem. He wants to inject my turbinates with silicon, a substance which Dr. Rice is adamantly against on using. The majority of the research I've done also agrees with the dangers. What is your opinion? Further, with all my suffering which includes, sticky mucus, a feeling of suffication, and pain inside of the nasal cavity, and now extreme fatigue and anxiety because of the 4 months I have dealt with this, do you think that there is at all a remote possibility that something as simple has turbinate injections could solve my problems?

the pain will not likely be assisted by an injection, but the others may be improved
silicon injection is controversial, but if there is any doc with the knowledge as to how to use it effectively/safely it is Dr. Grossan
Did Dr. Rice offer any other treatment? IT recon with hydroxy apatite as he published in the past?

turbinate injections No, he did not. Because my nose was not "empty" after a turbinate reduction of 50 to 60% by a Dr. Line who told me that this was going to be a "conservative somnoplasty", Dr. Rice did not feel that it should be treated like ENS, regardless of the ENS type symptoms that he did recognize. He thought because I have a small amount of nasal collapse when I breath in and out, that I should see a plastic surgeon and have them reinforce the nasal wall. Although I brought the nasal collapse problem to his attention due to the fact that it did not exist before the somnoplasty, he initially thought that the collapse was caused by a blockage due to swelling. Although he agrees that the swelling and irritation should not still exist after several months of the procedure, he also stated a month after that diagnosis that, "no, you no longer have any swelling or irritated tissue, so I am not sure why you are still having these symptoms". At this point I am so worried as to who to trust being that they have all had different opinions. The hope now is to go back to Grossan for the turbinate injection. I see him the middle of next week.
