What Do You Think? Sorry about my other posts im just a little bit frantic as of late.
almost 2 months ago i had septoplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery and i was told radiofrequency turbinate reduction.
i still am not problem free, my main symptoms are the following
mostly on the left site occasionally right
this pressure feeling near the ethmoid sinus, middle meatus, maxillary sinus and where the turbinates are located but its mostly more upper towards and on the bridge of my nose also
i feel more pressure in those areas when im walking,if i tilt my head to the right or bend my head
in the left also i do feel like theres alot of air going up but most of the time it doesnt feel like its exceeding anything i just dont know if im not use to that much air going through since ive had problems for over 15 years
when i do breath in occasional there is added pressure in those spots mentioned above
dont really have crusting occasionally but nothing significant
sometimes dry but never to the point that its burning
no problems that ive noticed while trying to or sleeping
my allergies havnt gotten worse
sometimes i feel like have this pressure at the roof of my mouth
post op i got cleanings,i was put on an extra course of antibioitcs after no help,i use sinus rinse with breathe xl solution 2-3 times daily also use saline spray throughout the day ive been on allergy shots for 5 weeks,i have a humidifier and air purifier in my room where i am most of the time right now,im on singulair and xyzal
now after surgery up until like 2 weeks ago it was almost the same pain i had before surgery..but then it got worse and i felt more pressure and the pressure sometimes makes me feel like i cant breathe that feel last for like a second and usually only get that feeling if im walking around or tilting or bending my head.
the 3 things i can think of that i did differently around the time that this all got worse was
i got into a fight with my mother and i was screaming now before this anytime i would talk loudly or project my voice i felt this straining/pressure feeling in the areas i mentioned before no changes in my voice or anything but just that feeling when i project or spoke loudly
next i started on veramyst spray again for the first time since befor surgery since then i have stopped to see if it helps any being off of it
and 3rd was i neglected my teeth for a year or so and started throughly brushing my teeth again
i dont know if any of these have to do with it getting worse or is just a cowincedence the one that matches up the most would have to be the first thing since the majority of what i feel now is what i felt during those times sometimes whine i would raise my voice but now its all the time without raising my voice
when i told my dr initially he said that one of the sides wasnt healing fast enough something like that..then i went back to him still in pain and he said to try to give it 3 more months considering the extent of sinus surgery he had to do and the allergy season we are in so he gave me medrol dose packl to reduce swelling and inflammation i got 2 more days left on that dont really feel all that much different
im going to attempt to get my post op report so i can see what exactly was done do i get that from the hospital or him and do i have to pay ?..with no relief and considering some of my symptoms im sort of worried about ens sorry for this long rant and previous post but like i said im a little frantic and frustrated at this point so what do you all think

Sorry no one has replied yet. That is alot of info there! But since you are only a few months post op from your septoplasty and turbinate reduction, it may not be evident if you have ENS yet.
The hallmarks of ENS are weird feelings of congestion and shortness of breath, which seem to come out of nowhere, but are really due to dryness and thick mucus that gets stuck in the back of the nose (you can't blow it out the front anymore, so you have to irrigate it out the back). These things mess with the air resistance inside the nose. Sorry if I am not great at explaining it medically.
You have alot of other things going on, including pain, which some ENS sufferers have. But also other things that may be related to your sinus surgery. Search this site for the topics you have questions about.
From my own experience, I advise getting an allergy test (when you are off allergy meds for a while so results don't skew) to be sure you really need those meds. They can be very drying, which exacerbates ENS. Steroid sprays are prob. better bc they are topical and less broadly drying. Still, try to minimize meds, because they pretty much all exacerbate ENS, even meds from other medical conditions that may be drying.
Definitely start irrigating - search the board for tips.
After only one turb reduction done safely, it seems, you may not have ENS or may have it only mildly, but you don't want to bring it on further with unnecessary medicines and lifestyle - just anything drying (alchohol, dry air).
Irrigation is KEY!! Good luck and give yourself more time to heal, according to doctors who treat ENS.

thanks for a response...my new problem is it seems like my left side of my face is slightly swollen...im suppose to be going for another cat scan fri..i have no clue whats going on..im on allergy shots...and i was irrigating everyday but then it got worse so i havnt done it in a few days

maybe you need a steroid spray to deal with temporary swelling post surgery, plus allergies? I have to use them sometimes, and I am actually needing them now bc I am recovering from implants and having mild irritation from vasomotor rhinitis/postnasal drip.
Keep monitoring your symptoms - I know it can be hard to nail down, but try to separate possible ENS symptoms from others. Keep a copy of your CT scan so if you need to send it to Dr Houser, you can. He will tell you to wait longer post surgery, I assume - usually up to a year.

ScottB - the easiest and safest thing you can do right now is go and get a 2nd opinion. Try not to mention the name of the doc whom did the procedure as often this can interfere with the advice you receive. It will give you answers from an ENT not involved that you may not receive from the doc who did the procedure.
